About The Project
GARZA STUDIOS are Houston’s newest and only acoustically-sound spaces designed specifically for the use of musicians, dancers, actors, and performing artists. The 10 studio spaces are affordable; available to rent by the hour for rehearsals, classes, coachings, lessons, intimate performances, livestream events, and video productions.
We provide discounted access to our spaces to the myriad of non profit organizations and arts educational providers looking for safe, clean, and professional spaces where they can focus solely on their artistic endeavors. Instructors, students, as well as emerging and professional artists alike have already made GARZA STUDIOS their first choice for quality studio spaces to both hone their craft and teach others.
WHO WE SERVE
GARZA STUDIOS is located in Second Ward (EaDo), only 10 minutes from the major performing arts venues and companies in Houston’s thriving downtown arts scene. We aim to serve as a connector between our historically underserved community and the established cultural institutions in Greater Houston by providing space to create arts and education programming for deserving residents of the East End.
Here is a list of just a few of the partnerships already formed with GARZA STUDIOS since opening in March 2021:
- AFA Texas
- Houston Boychoir
- Alliance Theatre for All Abilities
- The Ponce Project: Amplifying Latin Composers
- Operativo Houston
- Hearts In Motion
- Apollo Chamber Players
- KINETIC Ensemble
- Carya String Quartet
- KDENCE Latin Dance Studio
- Young Audiences Houston
Artistic expression is an essential part of our humanity that should be available to everyone. Our mission is to provide the highest quality spaces to explore, refine, and create. Being raised in the East End, we know that people of all abilities and all backgrounds are not always provided with professional, well-equipped spaces, especially in this under-resourced community.
GARZA STUDIOS fills a need in Second Ward and the surrounding communities, utilizing a model available in most other major cities that allows organizations, teachers, non-profits, small business owners, and students to rent space by the hour.
WHAT WE NEED
While GARZA STUDIOS has 10 spaces, only 5 of those spaces are open to the public, and only 2 of the spaces have the necessary equipment to provide the services our community needs and deserves.
Your donation through Fresh Arts will help GARZA STUDIOS acquire things like:
- Pianos
- Risers for the Black Box Theatre (Studio 9)
- Theatre lighting
- Curtains and sound panels
- Musician’s Chairs
- Recording Equipment
- Speakers
- Projectors and whiteboards
Your donations also allow GARZA STUDIOS to provide discounted and free spaces to non-profit arts organizations who want to serve all members of the Houston community with quality arts and education programming. This type of outreach into the East End is necessary to help one of Houston’s most diverse areas survive and thrive.
